African Artists Go Head to Head at MTV EMA Awards

MTV Music Awards are back with a bang and the competition is very stiff on the African continent. Between 2017 and 2018 the continent witnessed the release of amazing music from different genres.

Music artists mainly from South Africa and Nigeria have shaken the airwaves with their melodious and rhythmic musical instruments. This has shown that big things are happening in Africa.

MTV Music Awards has recognised the talent of some of the artists in Africa. Some of them have made it to the 2018 MTV Music Awards. MTV announced the nominees for the 2018 MTV EMA Awards and some African pop stars made it to the list.

It’s not a surprise that the likes of Davido and Tiwa Savage have made it to the nominee’s list. But there is something that will raise many music lovers’ eyebrows. However, the Omunye hit-makers The Distruction Boyz have surprised many due to the fact that they are the new kids on the block. Their appearance on the nomination list clearly showed that they have done remarkably well.

Furthermore, there are also other African artists who made it on the chart. The likes of Fally Ipupa from DRC, Nyashinski from Kenya and South Africa’s Shekinah have also occupied the space on the nominee’s list.

Other Nominees

The MTV EMA Awards comprise of many categories, however, there are other top artists who are also on the run for the most prestigious awards in the music industry. The likes of Drake and Ariana Grande were nominated for the best artist of the year. Ariana Grande is also in contention for the Best Pop Artist, Best Song and Best Video of the year.

Newbie Cardi B is nominated along with Anne-Marie for the Best New Artist. It is going to be a night to remember on the 4th of November 2018 as the awards will be up and running at Bizkaia Arena Bilbao in Spain.
