Generatiions the Legacy actress Luyanda Mzazi says she is not willing to disclose the identity of her very famous father. Luyanda, who plays Lesedi on the SABC1 soapie shared all of this in a recent interview on DJ Sbu’s digital radio station, Massive Metro.

Luyanda is a fresh face to the limelight and she says she wants to make a name for herself without her father’s already existing fame getting in the way.

“He does a lot of things…he does everything, literally…he actually made me realize I can’t just be an actress,” she said.

The 21-year-old actress says she got her role on Generations the Legacy like any other unknown actress. She found an agency, signed up and went for auditions.

“It was my first audition out of school, I was nervous…I’ve never been on TV before. I flunked it, I went home and I was like I didn’t get it, don’t even worry, I didn’t get it,” Luyanda said.

Luyanda further added that she is her own person and she doesn’t want people to think she got to the industry through connections.

“I’m my own person, so I never wanna get asked about my parents…I literally woke up, sent an email, I’ve looked for an agency on google, like everyone can do. I found one, sent an email and they were like ‘ok cool, come through audition’, I did that audition, they liked me…a week later or two I got an email that Generations is having auditions…”

Although this Luyanda’s first role in mainstream television, she has done a lot of theatre work.

Luyanda Mzazi is originally from Johannesburg and is currently studying towards an HR qualification.

South African actress, model, media socialite, businesswoman and singer, Gail Nkoane Mabalane, has revealed today that she gave birth to a baby boy on the 31st of January 2018.

Gail, who is married to Kwaito musician, songwriter and actor, Kabelo Mabalane, is most known for acting roles on South African television series “The Wild”, and recently starred on tele-novel series “The Road”, which airs on Mzansi Magic every weeknight.

Gail has also revealed that today her baby boy who’s name is Khumo Mabalane is just one week old.

Actress Sihle Ndaba joins the cast of King Kong

Former Uzalo actress Sihle Ndaba has joined the cast of stage production King Kong – The Musical. Sihle takes the role of “Petal” for the final extension of the show which is now to 4 March.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show. I first learned about King Kong while I was still in University and have been obsessed with the show ever since. It is an honour to be a part of a legacy set out by legends such as mama Miriam Makeba, bab’Caiphus Semenya, mam’Sophie Mgcina, mam’Letta Mbulu, bab’Hugh Masekela, and mam’Thandi Klaasen just to name a few,” Sihle said in a statement.

King Kong tells the story of heavyweight fifties boxing champion Ezekiel Dlamini, whose self-appointed ring name was “King Kong”, to the wildly exhilarating music of Todd Matshikiza.

We are delighted to welcome Sihle to the Fugard Theatre stage for this phenomenal final South African leg of KING KONG’s journey,” says Daniel Galloway, the Executive Director of the Fugard Theatre.

He added that with her powerhouse voice and seasoned acting experience, she is dazzling as Petal.

Ndaba joins Andile Gumbi (The Lion King, isiBaya) as King Kong and Edith Plaatjies (District Six: Kanala; Orpheus in Africa; Blood Brothers) as shebeen queen Joyce.

The Fugard Theatre’s King Kong cast includes Sanda Shandu as Lucky (Orpheus in Africa); Tshamano Sebe as Jack (Athol Fugard’s Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek; Master Harold and the Boys; Noem my Skollie); Desmond Dube as Pop (Dube on Mondays, No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, Suburban Bliss); Ntambo Rapatla as Miriam (Menopause the Musical) and Sabelo Radebe as Caswell (West Side Story; Peter Pan).

The production runs at the Fugard Theatre until 4 March 2018, Tuesday to Saturday at 20:00 with a matinee at 15:00 on Saturdays and 16:00 on Sundays.

Veteran actress Pamela Nomvete has spoken out about alleged ill-treatment at the hands of the production company behind SABC1’s new series, Agent. She and co-stars Kay Sibiya and Robert Mpisi shot the series on the island of Mauritius over December and January.

However, according to her, things were difficult on set and everything that could go wrong in a production did.

“There were issues with accommodation, payments, times and attitudes – you name it,” she says. Not at liberty to disclose the name of the production company due to contractual agreements, Pamela says it is time actors take a stand against ill-treatment from producers, directors and agents.”

Sindi Dlathu to open an Anti-Ageing Laboratory Clinic

Former Muvhango actress Sindi Dlathu is not only an actress, but she’s also a businesswoman.

Speaking to Drum Magazine the actress revealed that she’s opening an Anti-Ageing Laboratory Clinic in Johannesburg – Craighall in February.

Sindi revealed that it was her job as an actress that inspired her to open a skin-care clinic as her career involves her putting a lot of make-up on.

“As actresses, we use a lot of make-up, which clogs the skin’s pores. I’ve always wanted to glow, which is why I’ve been taking care of my skin. Now I’ve decided to start a skincare business.”

Sindi told the publication that she is determined about people not viewing her business as a beauty clinic but would like people to know that the business is a medical clinic that provides body treatment services that will help rejuvenate the skin & more.

“We believe in combination therapy, so each client will be billed according to their personalized treatment plan,” she added.

Dlathu embarked on this new business venture with her business partner & therapist Kgomotso Teffo.

Sindi returned to TV screens on Monday in a fresh new role on a new drama series The River, three months after she announced her exit from Muvhango.

Thulisile Phongolo leaves generations

Thulisile Phongolo, who has already made her name on on SABC 1 soap opera Generations: The Legacy will no longer be a part of cast members.

The 24-year-old plays Namhla Diale on Generations. Namhla is a young driven ambitious girl who goes to all measures to achieve her goal and she is also the daughter of ex-convict Lucie Diale and Jack Mabaso – who is a well-connected criminal and business man.

Generations’ PR manager Gaaratwe Mokethi told Drum Magazine that she is not sure when Thulisile is leaving but she still has some scenes for the next two months.

“Her reason for leaving is due to the script of the soapie but she won’t be one of those characters who’ll leave Generations by dying,” she said.

“I don’t have the exact date but I think it will be the last day of shooting because the scenes that she shot are still going to show for the next two months, her character was written off and I’m not sure how is she going to leave but you know how soapy roles are but I’m definitely sure that she’s not going to die.”

Last week Friday, a surprise celebration party was held in honour of actress and model, Nomzamo Mbatha.

The party was held to celebrate the fact that Mbatha finally obtained the BCom Accounting degree from the University of Cape Town that she has been working very hard towards among all her other responsibilities.

Mbatha could not hide her joy and even described how she felt as she walked into her party.

“… When I stepped into the villa, it took my breath away, the endless horizon was just magical in the many layers it shown. It reminded me of my late little sister, Carla. In my mind, it was Carla’s View. She along with my grandmother, dad, older sister, were the people I longed to share achievement with the most.

“I stopped myself so many times from calling them… But they were all there in that endless view. The year 2017, was filled with so many exciting challenges and blessings, and now I start off 2018 with the greatest achievement of my life.”

There were a number of famous faces on the room to celebrate Mbatha’s achievement, including TV Host and the founder and CEO of Ndalo Media and Ndalo Luxury Ventures, Khanyi Dhlomo.

Sandy passed away on Wednesday due to natural causes. Fulu who worked closely with veteran actor on the soapie, Scandal! described the veteran actor as her “work dad”.

My mentor and friend on screen, but my favorite hype man and work dad when the cameras stopped rolling… thank you for your warmth and kindness, all those oversees stories you shared (you were an amazing actor and a big deal sir) and always being so frank with me!
