Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 to broadcast live

DStv, SABC, and Viacom’s MTV International will be the broadcast partners for the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 taking place on Sunday, 2 December 2018 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The live broadcast will be transmitted in over 180 countries across six continents.

DStv will broadcast the event live to all its customers throughout South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. It will also carry the responsibility to film the event and provide the live broadcast to the SABC and other international broadcast partners who will extend the reach worldwide.

MTV International will bring the festival to fans in nearly 180 countries and territories outside the US, from Australia to Argentina and beyond. MTV Base will also debut a two-hour, “best of” special in the days following the initial broadcast for its audience in South Africa and nearly 50 countries across sub-Saharan Africa. The collective reach of its broadcast partners will deliver the largest reach of any television broadcast of a Global Citizen event to date.

YouTube and Twitter will also bring the Festival to a global audience via their channels, presented by Johnson & Johnson.

MultiChoice will make the live broadcast available on DStv channel 199 to all its customers across the African continent.

Global Citizen Festival Honours the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela; presented by Major Partner, the Motsepe Foundation.

Beyoncé, JAY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, Wizkid — these artists and more are convening on 2 December in South Africa with world and corporate leaders to present the biggest campaign on the Global Goals to end extreme poverty ever.

Responding to Nelson Mandela’s call for us to be the generation to end extreme poverty, artists and leaders will be joined by Global Citizens who’ve taken action on the Global Citizen social advocacy platform to earn their free tickets to the festival at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

The Mandela 100 Festival, in partnership with the House of Mandela, will serve as the capstone event of Global Citizen’s year-long Be the Generation campaign, inspired by the revered former leader of South Africa and his lifelong dedication to rallying people together to use their collective voices to speak for the most marginalized people.

Global Citizen Festival Mandela 100 hosts include Trevor Noah, Naomi Campbell, Bonang Matheba, Sir Bob Geldof, Gayle King, Tyler Perry, and Forest Whitaker.

Rapper Emtee is getting married

Emtee and Nicole Chinsamy getting married

Rapper Emtee, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu is getting married. The rapper revealed that his girlfriend Nicole Chinsamy said “yes” when he popped the question.

The rapper took to Twitter to share the news. “Got engaged. No Cap,” he wrote.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE that he popped the question on Sunday while the pair were in Ghana at a hotel they were staying in.

“It happened on Sunday. We were in Ghana at the hotel we were staying in. It felt like the perfect moment and the place was a nice place to be.”

“I had been searching for the right ring for a while. You know browsing for one for a while because this proposal was long overdue. I’ve wanted to do it for a while but I also had to pace myself and not rush into things,” – he told the publication.

Shot by Ofentse Mwase of OM Films, the Going In music video transports viewers on Tribal’s journey of breaking free and becoming his best self. The high energy in the video is contagious and you’ll want to celebrate Tribal’s growth.

“It is important for me to share my journey, not only via audio but visually too. The Going In video represents where I am today. I’ve fought a battle that many have lost their lives to and I hope my story can encourage others to keep going on,” shares Tribal.

The Eastern Cape born rapper, Lolo Vandal, whose real name is Zuxole Ngetu, has exposed us to another side of his artistry.

With the release of his two singles tittled ‘Killing It‘ and ‘Yiyeke‘, both engineered by Lolo Vandal and produced by EST, he has proven that versatility and flexibility while being true to himself is the nature of his artistry.

‘Killing It’, a trap inspired song which appeals mostly to the youth, “the cool kids” he said, and ‘YIYEKE’, inspired by the sounds of Kwaito, the ‘pantsula’ lifestyle and the life of the people in the hood. Lolo Vandal is more than just a rapper now, his growth is more visible in his work and his two latest projects are proof to that.

It his first time releasing two songs on the same, the first two songs that he recorded and mastered, that marks a milestone in his career. Sbahle Mpisane discharged from hospital

Sbahe Mpisane discharged from hospital

Socialite and fitness bunnie Sbahle Mpisane has been discharged from the Durban hospital. Mpisane was involved in a horrific car crash in August on the Margaret Mncadi (Victoria Embankment) Avenue in Durban.

Sbahle was driving a BMW 4 series. The Durban fire rescue crew had to use the jaws of life to free her from her severely damaged vehicle.

Her father Sbu Mpisane, confirmed that Sbahle was discharged from the hospital on Friday morning.

“Yes we did fetch Sbahle from hospital today and we are happy to have her back home with us,” he said.

On Friday morning, one of her close friends took to social media to share pictures of the good looking fitness bunnie leaving the hospital in a wheelchair. Her friends also posted a picture of her standing next to her wheelchair.

Earlier this month, her father Sbu, told Isolezwe that if someone suffers fractures like that, it takes three to six months to recover. Sbahle’s recovery is going through different stages, the first stage was to save her life and to heal her wounds, because she had severe injuries and she is also receiving mental health care to ensure she makes a full recovery.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have finally arrived in South Africa for the highly-anticipated Global Citizen Festival SA. Jay Z, his wife Beyonce and their three children were spotted at Lanseria airport on Thursday, November 29.

Several Twitter accounts have shared videos of Queen Bey arriving at Lanseria Airport. In a video, Jay-Z is seen in a black hoodie trying to hide one of the twins, while Bey was trying to hide away in an umbrella.

After a mob of fans spotted them, they screamed their lungs out for them. The Carters were protected by bodyguards and over a dozen South African police officers.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z, Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Kasey Musgraves, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, and Wizkid will headline the first Global Citizen Festival to be held at FNB Stadium on Sunday, December 2.

The Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards (MKHMA) held their third annual music ceremony on the 24th of November at the Big Top Arena in Carnival City.

Devastating news rocked the awards when radio and TV personality, Bonginkosi “Zola” Dlamini pulled out as the host for the awards in 2018; the organisers had to soldier on to find a replace for the self-funded music awards show. The number 1 knox man, Sibusiso “DJ Sbu” Leope was the host for the awards on the night and contributed to the success of the show, despite the challenges artist’s faced, we continue to celebrate and honour Kwaito and House musicians in South Africa.

The lovely Mpho Tshabalala, wife of late Kwaito artist Mandoza, was in attendance and could not believe it when she received an award in the Best Kwaito Song of 1996-2000 for Mandoza’s hit song Nkalankatha. The Best Gqom Artist category was included in 2018 and the first artist to walk away with this award was Zinhle Ngidi who also contributed on the vocals of Shumaya. Busiswa walked away with the Best House Artist award as well as the Best House Single Album for her 2018 hit song, Bazoyenza. She also took to the stage with her dancers to excite the crowd with their dance moves as she performed her popular tracks to a roaring crowd.

2018 nominees, Trompies and Mshoza would have stolen the show with their electric performances on the night but the crowd were unable to contain themselves when MKHMA CEO, Ms Perfecta Khumalo and Mr Hlaudi Motsoeneng stole the show when they came on stage to award Doc Shebeleza with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Kwaito and the music industry in its entirety. Mr Motsoeneng went on to say that he would have pushed for the 3rd annual Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards to be broadcast live on TV had he still been at the SABC.
