I’m not buying the robbery story – Chicco Twala

Legendary music producer, Sello Chicco Twala

Music producer Sello Chicco Twala has now revealed that he does not believe the murder of Bafana Bafana captain and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiza was a botched robbery.

According to Daily Sun, Twala has called on all the six people who were present when the alleged robbery took place to come clean.

Speaking to Power FM, Chicco said “The six people should just tell the truth. Someone pulled the trigger. Someone killed Senzo on that night and these people know, why are they quiet?

“I am not buying the story about the robbery, personally. Someone knows who killed Senzo, including my son. They must all be arrested if needs be. They must leave me out of this nonsense”.

The six people he is referring to include his son Longwe Twala and his two friends, Kelly Khumalo, her mother and sister Zandi Khumalo.

This is after allegations that Chicco’s gun was used in the murder as it was missing during the time of the incident.

Rumors on social media suggest Longwe used his father’s gun to kill Senzo Meyiwa.

Chicco was not happy about the way he is being portrayed on social media.

“Is it a crime for me to be called and rushed to hospital? South Africans are blaming me, there’s so much insults about me,” he said.

He is determined to clear his name and he promise to see to it that this case is solved quickly.

“I am going to push Fikile Mbalula to make arrests. I am going to make lots of noise because I want my name cleared. If it’s my son, Mbalula must arrest and charge him and put him in jail” he said in closure.

Longwe Twala talks about the night Senzo Meyiwa was killed

Longwe Twala on Senzo Meyiwa’s death

Chicco Twala’s son, Longwe Twala has broken his silence on the accusation by Senzo Meyiwa’s father, Sam Meyiwa. Sam said on Metro FM’s The Drive’s show that Longwe was the man behind the trigger that killed former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper.

In an interview with the drive team on Metro FM, Longwe said he was actually the ‘coward’ on the day because he ran out of the house when the robbers came inside Kelly Khumalo’s house.

Twala said the police had interrogated him already and also took his phone to check if he is linked to Senzo’s murder.

“I’m actually saddened that my own people can do this to me, I mean it was a robbery gone wrong. I was even the coward of the day ’cause I actually ran out as those gunmen actually came in and requested phones and money from us. I was actually the first to stand up to try and protect everyone, not realizing that the other guy also had a gun and pointed the gun at me and I actually ran out the door after he pointed the gun in self-defense.

Chicco Twala tells his side of the story of the night Senzo Meyiwa died

Legendary music producer, Sello Chicco Twala

Legendary musician and producer Chicco Twala has defended himself against claims that the shot which killed football star Senzo Meyiwa was fired from his gun.

The former Bafana Bafana player was killed in 2014 in an alleged robbery at Kelly Khumalo’s family home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni. No arrests have been made.

Parody account @AdvBarryRoux caused a stir on Twitter last week after claiming that Chicco’s son, Longwe was behind the shooting.

The account detailed the claims in a long thread, but has not yet produced any real evidence.

Speaking to Metro FM’s MoFlava and Masechaba Ndlovu, Chicco recalled what happened on that fateful day. He says Kelly called him, crying.

“I rushed to the house. I found Kelly, Longwe and another childhood friend of Senzo’s. Senzo was lying there. They said two guys came in and wanted to rob them. I don’t want to talk on behalf of Longwe. He’s an adult. I want to talk about my part,” he said.

Chicco is adamant that his gun was not used on the day.

“It wasn’t missing. My firearm is always with me. I got it in 1989 and it is always in my safe.”

He added that if his son was the person who shot Senzo he would have turned him in.

“If Longwe had killed Senzo, I promise you Masechaba, I would be the first person to act. I don’t care. He’s my son. But if he killed Senzo, I would have pushed for him to go to jail. Leave me out of this thing. I wasn’t there.”

He confirmed that police took his gun for ballistic tests after the murder.

“They took my firearm and about four weeks later they said my gun is not the one.”

Senzo’s father, Sam Meyiwa, is convinced that all those who were present in the house are covering up what really happened to his son.

He appeared on Mo and Masechaba’s show several days ago and told the presenters he does not buy the story that his son was killed in a robbery gone wrong.

“There was no such thing as a robbery, the person who killed Senzo is amongst the boys who were at Kelly’s house. The culprit is amongst those boys… The people who were present when my son was shot are causing me so much pain. They know who killed Senzo but they are keeping quiet,” he said during the interview.

Sam hinted that he knows who killed his son.

“…there is someone amongst those boys who killed Senzo. His father paid money to bribe the police so this boy does not get arrested. The thing is I can’t say who the boy is exactly.”

Media reports claimed at the weekend that police are close to making an arrest in the case. But Sam told eNCA he has not been briefed by police about any developments.

“It’s been four years investigating one case, and no one has been arrested. Instead I’m getting death threats that they want to kill me because I’m the one making noise, and when I’m dead it will be quiet. But I can’t keep quiet.”

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula took to Twitter to confirm that officers are “very hard” to find Senzo’s killers.

“We are working very hard to find Senzo’s killers. If anyone has into please approach saps and ministry by all means necessary (sic),” he tweeted.
