Three foundations – the House of Mandela Foundation, the Enhle Cares Foundation and Africa Rising – are at the heart of this initiative, which is also supported by Global Citizen.

Maison Martell is proud to pay tribute to the exceptional life and legacy of Nelson Mandela with an outstanding eau-de-vie distilled in 1918, the year of his birth. Selected by Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud, this eau-de-vie from Grande Champagne was aged in the Jean Martell cellar, where the House’s most prestigious cognacs are stored.

Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie have unique potential for ageing, expressing their character fully only after 40 years. This century-old eau-de-vie retains supreme freshness and intensity, with a complex, expressive taste. It is presented in an elegant bottle, created in consultation with Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Ndaba Mandela of Africa Rising, which is inscribed “Vintage 1918 – Mandela 100 – Aah Dalibhunga Madiba Nkosi”.

“What counts is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela
