The announcement of naming Mampho Brescia as Brand Japan Ambassador is a highly fitting one due to her background of having studied in Japan. Her celebrity status alongside her knowledge of Japan and Japanese culture has positioned Mampho Brescia as the ideal ambassador to be a bridge between South Africa and Japan.

“Being appointed as Brand Japan Ambassador is a full circle moment for me. I had the opportunity to experience Japan as a student and I discovered an entirely different world. It’s such an honour to now be in a position to represent the beautifully rich and colourful Japanese culture to South Africa,” expresses Mampho Brescia.

Mampho Brescia will be travelling to Japan on 21 September 2018 as the official Brand Japan Ambassador to meet with Japanese role players in areas such as entertainment, tourism and public services.

Reflecting on her Japan experience Mampho Brescia shares “Japan was always a good idea.”

She further adds: “Japanese culture is filled with intrigue and mysteries of age old traditions. The art form in their expressions of fashion, motion pictures, and language is something I would love all South Africans to embrace. I’m looking forward to my Japan trip in September and meeting key stakeholders and adding great value as the first Brand Japan Ambassador.”

Mampho Brescia’s Brand Japan Ambassador announcement by the Ambassador of Japan will be combined with a send-off ceremony for 45 South Africans departing as part of the 21st group of South African Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) programme. The JET attracts participants from 103 countries and aims to improve foreign language teaching in schools and to promote international exchange at the local level.
