Selimathunzi presenter Siphesihle Vazi will make his acting debut on Muvhango this week as the MC at James Motsamai wedding.

Speaking to Drum Magazine, Duku Duku presenter told the magazine that acting has always been part of his plans. He further explained that he wants to be furnished with all the skills needed before fully venturing into the craft.

“I’ve always had the plan to go into acting, but I wanted to study it first. And I’ve been very privileged because when I approached Duma kaNdlovu he agreed to have me at the Duma Ndlovu Actors’ Academy (DNA Academy). DNA Academy conducts its weekly classes at the Joburg Theatre.

“I haven’t been actively auditioning for roles just yet – I want to learn as much as I can first.”

According to Sunday World, executive producer and creator of Muvhango, Duma Ndlovu, isn’t likely to hire someone with no formal acting training.

“I’m very unlikely to hire someone who doesn’t have an acting diploma or degree – unless it’s somebody who’s been in the industry for a very long time. I feel very strongly about this and I talk about it all the time. If you want to be an actor go to school and study drama, that’s it,” Duma said.

On Muvhango Siphesihle MCs the wedding as himself and “because of that, I decided to style myself in a suite that the viewers will recognise – because I was me.”
