Tracey Ullman’s Show Returns for Second Series

Comedienne Tracey Ullman returns to SA screens

Comedienne Tracey Ullman returns to SA screens with a second series of her hysterically funny sketch show, introducing us to a slew of new comic characters and impersonations of celebrities and “national treasures”.

The series starts on Monday, November 6 at 21:00 exclusively on ITV Choice (DStv 123).

Each episode offers a glimpse of British life, from dusk till dawn, and many of its inhabitants (the everyday and the very famous). Locals, tourists… even those smuggling themselves into the country are included. A typical episode consists of sketches ranging from one to three minutes with one sketch’s storyline acting as the spine of the episode. Every show also features an original song penned by Ullman and composer Richard Thomas.

Episodes:

  1. Delinquent Dame Judi Dench is back, but will being a national treasure be enough to save her this time?  Nicola Sturgeon has her sights set on more than just Scotland; and Doctor Peluzzi can cure your bad knee and make you run faster than anyone else (but if anyone asks you to pee into a cup, get a friend to do it). There’s also a heartfelt song from Angela Merkel: she’s all on her own (apart from Birgit her faithful stylist – and a million refugees). With a guest star appearance from Ben Miller as Rupert Murdoch.
  1. The second episode sees the return of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who is shopping for cut-price animal-print leggings – or jodhpurs as she prefers to call them. It is movie night in the Murdoch household, and Germaine Greer is ranting at a student as she waits at the bus stop. Kay and her elderly mother’s home is flooded – but they are staying put. Dame Maggie Smith has a new job as a vlogger, and the planners have their sights on a run-down housing estate – but is gentrification good for everyone? The scene is set for a rap challenge. Guest starring Kevin Bishop.
  1. It’s a big day for security guard Leah. She’s the last line of defence at a small factory on an industrial estate, but in these heightened times anything could happen. Nicola Sturgeon is so keen on Angela Merkel’s style that she will go to any length to get the look; health nut Mabel has a new blender (you can put anything in it); and top New York producer Bernice Rubin is over in the UK trying to secure some Shakespeare for Broadway. All this plus a song about pulling the plug on the technology in our homes that stops us talking to each other, and Dame Judi Dench in a shop full of fragile china – what could possibly go wrong?
  1. Adele is happy, but that’s not helping the new album. A hard-working mum is trying to juggle her work-life balance, but that means the kids are in her taxi as well, and the vlog from Dame Maggie has some of the best acting tips you will ever hear. Meanwhile, a therapist has trouble with confidentiality, and Nicola Sturgeon is in her lair with a song about her plans for world domination – just don’t talk about the oil. With a guest appearance from Nigel Havers.
  1. Kate and Wills are away, so it is up to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to look after Princess Charlotte for the day. But Camilla is better with boys – they just need food and exercise. Meanwhile, a top team from GCHQ are staking out a couple in a pub, but even a spy’s son should be able to make his own decisions. Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch pose for a family photo, Mabel the health nut tries the caveman diet, and a masseuse is juggling her work and her baby, who has woken up from his nap too soon. Elsewhere, the dance troupe from Top of the Pops are reunited after 40 years, and Dame Judi is receiving the first award at the start of a long award ceremony – what will she do with the rest of her evening?
  1. They have opened a gallery in the old home town of troubled artist Sharon Utley, but who is Stick of Rock Man, and what really happened to the pier? Dame Maggie’s vlog tackles a first-person shooter video game and Nicola Sturgeon has captured Andy Murray, and take heart if you are missing Bake Off – The Great British Boiled Egg is here to fill the gap on the BBC. Meanwhile, Kay is looking into her family tree, and Angela Merkel has had enough of Brexit negotiations and wants to see more of London.
