The Daily Show host and comedian Trevor Noah has been named as one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2018.
TIME magazine revealed its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world on Thursday. The list has been split into pioneers, artists, leaders, and icons.
The magazine paired guest contributors to write about each of the 100 people on the list.
‘Black Panther’ star Lupita Nyong’o was tasked with the job doing a write-up on our Trevor Noah and she wrote: “When I think of Trevor Noah, the first image I see is from his brilliant memoir, Born a Crime, of Trevor’s mother throwing him out of a moving vehicle while he’s asleep in order to save his life. Through other eyes, this could be remembered as traumatic and harrowing. Through Trevor’s it is bonding and hilarious, a testament to the love of someone who truly had to think on their feet.”
She further added that “a fantastic storyteller, he has always been a defier of rules, which he broke simply by being born in his native country. At The Daily Show, which he has truly globalised, Trevor seeks out comedians of colour in every possible venue, no matter how small.” Read the full insert here.
“.@TrevorNoah is always reaching out: across cultures, continents and boundaries. He makes us laugh with each other, and brings us that much closer to understanding one another,” writes @Lupita_Nyongo #TIME100 https://t.co/l7GRvLqzIx

Among others chosen this year are Roger Federer, Tiffany Haddish, Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Lopez.
“TIME’s annual list of the world’s most influential people is a designation of individuals whose time, in our estimation, is now. The TIME 100 isn’t a measure of power, though many on the list wield it,” wrote the magazine.
Last year the magazine named Trevor as one of its Next Generation Leaders in 2017. TIME magazine praised Noah for his impressive rise to fame and his work as host of The Daily Show.
