Today, Reabetswe Shongwe is considered to be one of the most successful women in finance, forex and entrepreneurship. She was born in Botswana and raised in South Africa. Like many successful businesswomen, she also started from bottom. She went from being a low paid sales assistant in the fashion retail industry to becoming a successful forex trader in Mzansi.

While working for Michael Kors at the Mall of Africa in Midrand, she was exposed to forex trading and entrepreneurship. She then decided to leave her retail job to Women in Forex and Entrepreneurship (W.I.F.E) which is a division under wealth creation organisation, Trade4Africa.

According to pressportal.co.za: “Women In Forex and Entrepreneurship is a Financial Transformation Platform for Women, which aims to help them become financially independent using the largest financial market in the world Forex, It inevitably allows women to use the profits acquired through Forex Market to be invested in avenues and assets, such as Property and other Businesses.”

“The turning point was when I realized that, I am helping build someone’s dream instead of my own, working overtime just so I can make more money. With the personality and skills I have, I believed that it was not meant for retail,” Shongwe says.

Since Shongwe left her retail job after working for three months, she says she’s been able to focus on her goals, which is becoming financial freedom.

She says that since she left her retail job, she had the freedom to focus on achieving all her goals, her biggest priority was to educate herself on how she can create financial freedom and also empower other women to do the same, to create a wealth generation cycle.

There’s no doubt that Reabetswe Shongwe will inspire other South African women to become successful forex traders in the country.
