South African actor and television presenter Thapelo Mokoena and his wife Lesego have welcomed their second son.

Thapelo, who is best known for presenting the first season of the South African version of the reality competition Fear Factor in 2005, posted a photo of himself holding his wife’s baby bump back in June announcing that they were expecting.

The pair managed to keep their son’s birth out of the spotlight.

Taking to Instagram, Thapelo shared the picture of their older son Lereko with his little brother.

“A BROTHER’S LOVE #Lereko #Lefika #Myboys #God #Bakoena #Grateful #Love 🖤✊🏾🌍,” – he captioned his Instagram post.

Pearl Thusi graces cover of Sawubona

South African actress and television personality Pearl Thusi has graced the cover of SAA’s in-flight magazine Sawubona and shares her very first flight experience.

Sawubona is the name of South African Airways’ official in-flight magazine, and means ‘greetings’ or ‘hello’ in Nguni. The magazine is provided for free on all South African Airways local, international and regional flights, and has been published by the whizzes at Ndalo Media since the 1st April 2013.

Sharing the beautiful black and white cover of the October edition on Instagram, Pearl Thusi said: “At home in KZN, there should still be a copy of the very first SAWUBONA magazine I ever laid my eyes on. SAA was the first airline I ever flew with.

It was 2003, just turned 15 and I was a Miss SA Teen finalist. And I was going to be on a plane for the first time ever. I grabbed anything I could to remember the occasion. My dad drove me, were HOURS early 😂😂😂 . How things change, now they all wave at me as I sprint to the gates. Today I am a platinum member of South African Airways and on the cover of SAWUBONA @sawubonasaa (sic).”

Media personality, Relebogile Mabotja, hosted a successful mentorship lunch for matric girls this past weekend at the Back O’ Moon Restaurant at Gold Reef City.

Relebogile Mabotja hosted the mentorship lunch as an initiative to motivate the young girls as they prepare for their upcoming final examinations.

The girls received numerous tips and advice and were inspired by the journeys of not only Relebogile Mabotja but some of her industry friends and colleagues, some of whom attended the lunch, and others sent through video messages such as the likes of: Zizo Tshwete, Carol Ofori, Candise Modiselle, Nothando Migogo, Sho Madjozi, Tumi Morake, Katlego Maboe, Vusi Nova, Katlego Danke, Nadia Nakai, Dr Viwe Mtwesi and Pabi Moloi just to name a few.

Each girl also received a goodie bag to take home that consisted of items from local businesses and brands that came on board to support this initiative.

“I can’t thank all the brands enough for coming on board, especially at such short notice. Every item made a huge difference! I would also like to thank Gold Reef City for helping me pay it forward by supporting my initiative,” shares Relebogile Mabotja.

Earlier this year, Zodwa told Afternoon Express in an interview that her boyfriend is not chowing her money. She and her boyfriend knew each other for some time and used to share their money in the past.

“I have a Ben 10. I am happy. He is not a (typical) Ben 10. He works… at the bank. You say he is eating my money. No, I don’t have money. I have known him for four years. We would eat a R100 together and we would survive on that.” – she told the Afternoon Express team.

Taking to Instagram to express love for her “Chris Brown lookalike” boyfriend, the entertainer said: “He knows I don’t belong to him,I belong to the People all over the World, thank you for always understanding & waiting for me.

Ngoba if ubufuna Ngabe uyazifebela Mtana sekhaya ube ngu Chris Brown. I love you (sic),” – Zodwa Wabantu captioned her Instagram photo with her boyfriend.

Television personality Minnie Dlamini-Jones feels that it’s time to do more off-camera work again. Mrs Jones revealed her future plans on The Drive with Mo Flava and Masechaba Ndlovu on Metro FM.

Minnie Dlamini was the producer of her three-part docu-series ‘Becoming Mrs Jones‘ which followed her through her journey to marrying her now husband, Quinton Jones. Her three-part docu-series was also produced by her company Beautiful Day Productions.

“I’ve still got an appetite for television, sort of being on camera, but I do think in the next couple of years I’ll be moving very far away from on-camera and really dedicating most of my time to production,” she said.

Mrs Jones went on to say that she loves the idea of creating content and shaping society through art.

“I love the idea of creating content and shaping society…it’s beautiful, I love it, and I just feel like it’s the natural progression in my career. It’s a way more lucrative business than being on camera.”

Dlamini also told Mo Flava and Masechaba Ndlovu that whatever she has in store, Beautiful Day Productions will be the one producing.

Moja LOVE introduces new show: UFELANI?


Moja LOVE introduces a new narrated docu-drama series, UFELANI. This docu-drama series is centered around the lives of people who are victims of violent crimes.

“Moja LOVE is a new channel about Universal Love. Viewers are progressive, diverse and their roots are grounded in the history and love of this country, therefore our content offering needs to reflect that. As part of our strategy, we are ensuring that our local content offering represents also the love of women and country. All our dramas, telenovelas and reality shows will bring the best of the raw South African street culture with a twist of universal love,” said Jacqueline Rainers Setai, Head of Channel: Moja LOVE (Channel 157 on DStv).

These stories are told by the survivors or family and friends of the victims or the investigating officers of the crime. In this series UFELANI will re-enact these true crime stories and scenes using actors allowing viewers the visceral experience of reliving the crime.

The series deals with the scourges of femicide, domestic violence and abuse. More often than not these cases result in death or worse still leave survivors that have to carry the trauma for the rest of their lives. Moja LOVE provides a platform for these stories to be told and heard.

According to Head of Channel Jacqui Setai, “It is very exciting for Moja LOVE to produce a docu-drama with so much emotion and human interest, telling real stories in the voice of the people who were directly affected by the events. The series gives true meaning to UFELANI – “What are you dying for?”. Our viewers can look forward to emotionally driven crime stories filled with intrigue, heartfelt drama and action that forces us to open discussions about the lived experience of women in South Africa,” she added.

Media personality Bonang Matheba is without a doubt one of the most talented and successful celebrities in South Africa. The former Metro FM radio host has announced that she will have a social media documentary.

A documentary which she co-produced called Public Figure will be released in 2019. The documentary, which is produced by American production company, Red Button Films, will look at the power of social media and how it has impacted society.

“Super proud of this project!! Co-produced an awesome documentary titled Public Figure alongside @redbuttonfilm …. @publicfigurefilm explores the power of social media & how it’s impacted society! Out in 2019 (sic),” – Bonang Matheba captioned the trailer on her Instagram account.

“This is an international project that has been in the works for a very long time. This is another step in my journey of being an executive producer and growing my production skills,” – Matheba told TshisaLIVE.

Former Generations actress Sophie Ndaba took to Instagram to address people expressing shock at her appearance. Photos of Sophie Ndaba weight-loss have been making rounds on social media.

The South African celebrity Sophie, addressed the issue saying that her obesity landed her in the hospital, that is the reason she had to lose weight because of her battle with diabetes.

On Friday, she wrote an emotional Instagram post, saying: “I’m sending my love to all my friends and family who are concerned about my weight and health. Living with Diabetes doesn’t mean my life must stop. It means I will fight to live and encourage those who already are suffering from this deadly disease. Help others prevent it.”

She further stated that she started her weight loss journey because she was obese and it affected her health.

“I made a confident choice to start eating well and loose weight. Yes it’s been a year of healthy eating and I’m proud of where I am. I want to encourage those who are struggling with obesity and say don’t worry what people think even if they will think you’re dying. Being overweight landed me in hospital.
