The dynamic duo DJ JAWZ & TSWYZA first brought you their first hit record titled “Soapie Love” and now they bring to you this East-coast meets West Coast inspired hit record titled “Ms Insta.”

We all know him as DJ Jawz, “The No.1 Party DJ”one of our favorite DJs in the come-up of the SA-Hip Hop music scene, okay maybe most born-frees might not know who he is but here is a little knowledge on the man. DJ-Jawz, born Itumeleng Sebola, has been a DJ since 1996 in high school, he went on to work as one of the resident Hip Hop DJs on YFM in the early 2000’s and later on joined Vodacom Radio right after YFM underwent a major reshuffle. The man’s versatility as a disc jockey has taken him to Paris where he gigs often.


He has spun records in London and Zanzibar to name a few places around the globe. He now works on Metro FM as a technical as well as content producer for the Absolute Hip Hop hosted by DJ Speedsta and Loot-Love. Be sure to catch him on “The Audiogasm” at 21:40 every Friday night on Metro FM. From time to time he stands in as a radio presenter. He has been producing music since 2006 and rapping (1994 – 1999) then stopped to focus on djing.

Radio & TV Media personality, Relebogile Mabotja, took the SA Fashion Week runway for a good cause this past weekend when she walked the ramp for renowned fashion design, Clive Rundle, at the Hospice WITS Nights With The Stars 2018.

Relebogile Mabotja’s celebrity runway appearance at SA Fashion Week was the second appearance she has made at the reputable fashion week. In 2011 Relebogile Mabotja graced the runway for the first time and now seven years later, the multi-talented media personality has proven to be just as comfortable on the runway as she did years ago.

“When I was asked to walk the runway for Hospice WITS Nights With The Stars 2018 I couldn’t say no. Anything for a good cause. I had lots of fun and absolutely loved Clive Rundle’s designs,” shares Relebogile Mabotja.

Relebogile Mabotja was joined on the runway by media personalities, Gerry Elsdon and Ayanda Nhlapo, and musician Bunny Majaja. Her SA Fashion Week celebrity appearance comes off the back of her recent acting appearance on popular soapie, Skeem Saam.

Drake comes out tops as Spotify reveals South Africans’ favourite picks

Following its local launch one month ago, global music streaming service Spotify has revealed some insights into South African music fans’ musical tastes.

Canadian rapper Drake has come out tops with South African music fans on Spotify since launch, taking the top spot as the most streamed artist AND the most streamed track, with his smash hit God’s Plan.

However, Spotify can reveal that South African musical tastes can vary by city. Drake was narrowly beaten by South Africa-based Nigerian hip hop rapper Mckay who was ranked as the top artist streamed over the period among Capetonian fans, while rapper XXXTENTACION was the most streamed artist in Port Elizabeth.

The local artists currently getting the most Spotify ‘air time’ from South African audiences include; Jeremy Loops, followed by Mckay, Shekhinah, Goldfish, DJ Maphorisa, NastyC, Fokofpolisiekar, AKA, Snotkop and Cassper Nyovest.

Jeremy Loops’ hit single Waves from his latest album release Critical as Water made it to the top of the list as the most streamed local track to date. Waves has already been streamed over a million times by Spotify users globally, good news as he kicks off his World Tour this week. Kwesta’s Spirit, Shekhinahs’ Suited and Mckay’s Flexing, Way Too Many and Save Us from his WAY TOO Many album, also made it to the top 100 tracks most streamed by local audiences over the period.

Local Hip Hop friends and collaborative creative partners, Rex Steele and Slush Papi are releasing their music into the market in a totally adventurous and boundary pushing way – by showcasing not only their music and sound, but packaging it in a mini Music Video documentary style film highlighting their journey and struggles and their passion to get their music heard.

This is the story of 2 hip-hop creative’s in a troubled environment finding a way to overcome the struggle through music and art.

The Documentary is a reflection of modern day South Africa seen through the eyes of 2 rappers. Gujwa Aka Rex Steele explains – “Zuma’s Zoo is about creating a new platform to showcase our music, to creatively depict our surroundings and artistry into one form. Which is why this is not entirely a documentary but more of a depiction of a lifestyle, as our regular lives and hustle/grind in this lovely city of ours is promulgated”.

Instead of just dropping another single in an already over saturated market, they wanted to execute something different, something to express their emotions and creativity by showing how they adapt and maneuver in this environment.

The Documentary will be preceded by the release of a series of separate music videos and the soundtrack is available on ITunes and all other digital platforms will follow. The lead singles for the doccie are Free30k and Vuka Kleva.

Zuma’s Zoo was shot by Sky Heaven and produced by O.T.Z (Operation Thatha Zonke). The official Documentary Zuma’s Zoo will be released on You Tube on 27 April.

Gallo Record Company congratulates Multi Award-winning saxophonist McCoy Mrubata on his outstanding achievement on Saturday 14 April 2018 at the “Gold Medal in the Arts Gala” held by The Kennedy Centre International Committee on The Arts.

The event took place at the Waterfront in Cape Town at the Zeitz Museum and McCoy was awarded alongside other legends in particular Basil J.R Jones and Adrian, John Kani, Sibongile Khumalo and Dr. Gcina Mhlophe.

McCoy gave a memorable speech expressing his gratitude.

Rapper Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, better known by his stage name Kwesta, is a perfect example that hard work really pays off.

The rapper recently took to Twitter to announce that his album Dakar II has been certified 7x platinum, making it the most successful Hip Hop album ever in South Africa in terms of sales.

The Spirit hit-maker, who also reached another milestone on Twitter, also thanked his seven hundred thousand Twitter followers.

There’s no doubt that Cardo, is one of the most talented upcoming South African rappers with a purpose. Masana Mbhalati, better known by his stage name Cardo, is best known for his debut E.P titled “The Forever Combo” released in 2016.

Speaking to Fame Africa TV, Cardo said currently he’s planning to take over the music industry with no remorse for my competition!

“I’m here to create timeless music for future generations to enjoy long after I’m gone…but don’t misinterpret my smile for weakness. I don’t take prisoners! Also, I’m pushing my single Orange ft Maraza, which is the official single from my mixtape ‘Natures Sauce’ and I’m back in studio working on new music.”

South African kwaito music group Bongo Maffin is back

Bongo Maffin is back

South African Kwaito music group who formed in Cape Town in 1996 is back Bongo Maffin after taking a break from music scene. The group first released their first studio album, The Concerto, in 1998, followed by Bongolution and New Construction.

After 12 years apart, Kwaito group is set to make a historic comeback later this year at the African Creative Revolution.

With an uncategorised fusion of reggae, kwaito, pop, hip- hop, jazz and R&B singalongs Bongo Maffin announced recently that they’ll be working on a new album.

“We will be releasing a full album in September and dropping a single very soon,” said band member Speedy.

Although the group did not give away too much information about their upcoming project, they said they will be partnering with Kalawa Jazmee Records. Kalawa Jazmee Records is an independent record label based in South Africa. The label is reputable as a major contributor to the development of the Kwaito genre of music in South Africa.

Mampintsha drops debut solo single featuring Babes Wodumo


West Ink boss Mandla Maphumulo better known as Mampintsha has dropped his debut solo single titled Amakentanga featuring Babes Wodumo.

Mampintsha, who left the kwaito group Big Nuz, is known for producing hits. He is also the man behind Babes Wodumo’s success.

Babes Wodumo (Bongekile Simelane) is signed with Mampintsha’s West Ink label.

Amakentanga is a isiZulu word for chains and it also a slang term used to describe a thumping sound at a party or gathering. The song starts off by describing a typical night with his party people and how an epic night is born.
