The Fashionable side of Rhythm City

Rhythm City will once again team up with Soweto Fashion week this year, to celebrate and showcase the talent in South African fashion design. Soweto Fashion Week takes place from 19 to 21 November 2015 at the impressive Soweto Theatre in Jabulani.

The audience can look forward to seeing their favorite actors strut their stuff on the catwalk. Rhythm Citizens who will make an appearance on the ramp are: Thembi Seete (Bongi), Ntando Duma (Zinzi), Mduduzi Mabaso (Suffocate), Paul Maila (Toolkit), Sayitsheni Mdakhi (Speshil), Sphamandla Dhludhlu (Themba), Ishmael Songo (Sabelo), Nkosiphendule Cengani (Emmanuel). Supporting their fellow cast members will be Jamie Bartlet (Genaro), Dumisani Mbebe (Doc), Thembsie Matu (Sis Bee), Connie Chiume (Mamokete) and Itumeleng Bokaba (Mampho).

The launch event will be presented by Siphiwe Mtshali (Bash) and the flamboyant Mzamo Gcabashe (Jamaica). This event will include performances by Rhythm City artists, Brian “Bruno” Majola & Dumi Masilela (Sifiso)

The Soweto Fashion Week was established in 2011, and is a platform to promote both up-and-coming as well as established South African designers. Unlike other fashion shows, this one is different because it focuses on two seasons’ collections, autumn and summer, and not just on one season. The aim is to help promote the South African modelling and fashion industries. This year the show will feature 19 carefully selected designers throughout the three day fashion extravaganza.

“We love getting involved in community projects such as Soweto fashion week, where we can bring the Rhythm City cast and stars closer to the community. It also gives the actors a chance to get out of their comfort zone and be models for a night.” Says Yula Quinn – Series Producer.
