Rumours are surfacing that radio personality Masechaba Ndlovu has been fired from Metro FM and she was informed that she won’t be part of the Drive on Metro FM in April.
Sunday World revealed that the news of Masechaba Ndlovu leaving South Africa’s No1 Urban radio station was broken to her by Metro FM management last week when she inquired about the renewal of her contract with the station.
She was told that her contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of this month. The paper alleges that Masechaba’s conduct during her now infamous interview with Babes Wodumo in May 2018 sealed her fate.
In the interview, Ndlovu confronted Babes and asked her about allegations that she was being abused by her boyfriend and fellow musician Mampintsha.
She wrote on Twitter:
Mampintsha laid a complaint with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of SA and the SABC, complaining that he was not given a right of reply.
As reported by SowetanLIVE, the senior official said even though Ndlovu was exonerated by the latest assault cases between the two artists, her conduct during the interview was seen by management as unbecoming and deserving of serious action.
It is understood that also joining the exit queue at Metro FM is talk show host Rams Mabote.
Mabote will be replaced by his fellow talk show colleague Kgopedi Lilokoe, who presents a similar talk show on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The news of Masechaba Ndlovu was not well received by some people on social media and this is what they had to say:
If @MasechabaNdlovu had interviewed Babes about a car hijacking or robbery it would be okay… But because she was calling out an abuser this happens… basically, we must turn a blind eye on GBV. Wow! So patriarchy stays winning… 😞😞😞 https://t.co/ZPOt2wbpQM

Metro FM recent shuffle is another example of ‘the suits’ being out of touch with the people & current trends.
If indeed Masechaba was fired, and the other pointless celeb side-breathers (hey Pumza 😉) on other shows are kept then the SABC is beyond saving.
